Doric Evening, Upstairs at the Bothy

Bill Thom and Linda Smith, two of the north-east’s finest Doric writers, will appear on Saturday 7th June (18:30) for a reading and book signing.

Banff poet Bill Thom will read from his recently published chapbook “The Quait Chiel”, a riotously entertaining ballad following the misadventures of twa aul chiels as they try to head home from the pub one night. 

Huntly-based Linda Smith, winner of the 2011 Toulmin Prize for best Doric short story, will also read a selection of her latest work. Published regularly in the Leopard magazine, Linda has most recently appeared in "Weaving Words", an anthology of poetry and prose by the Huntly Writers.

Visit from Architectural Heritage Society

The Architectural Heritage Society is on a Study Tour of the North East of Scotland. On Saturday fifty four people arrived at the Bothy by bus. Thank you for choosing to come to Portsoy.  It was great to meet you.

The Architectural Heritage Society of Scotland

The Architectural Heritage Society of Scotland as a Spring Study Tour to the North East of Scotland this weekend.  Fifty four people arrived by bus this morning for a tour of the Salmon Bothy.  This was followed by coffee at Beggar's Belief.   We had a great visit.

Launch of Neat Flicks

We had a wonderful day at the Salmon Bothy on Thursday.  It was the launch of Neat Flicks.  A reception was held in the Museum with whisky from Glenglassaugh, wine and canapés from Gourmet Choice.

Following the launch speeches the audience enjoyed popcorn ice cream from the local Ice Cream Shop with they watched the Salmon Fishing in theYemen.
